The Box That Led To Another World - Part 1

One day I was walking to the shops to buy some milk for my mum when I heard a fiddle playing. It sounded like it was coming from the shops so I followed it. Just before I reached the shop I saw that it was a lady playing it so I stopped to listen for a bit then I gave her $20 and I don't know why but she gave me a box in return. It was weird. Why did she give it to me? I hadn't seen her give boxes to anyone else. Maybe she wanted to give it to someone who put in more than or $20.
Anyway it was time to stop thinking and time to do. I had reached the front gate of my house, it was a house like any other or in other words, ordinary. It had wooden type gates in criss cross patterns and they had pink roses on them. There was also an apple tree in the backyard and lots of flowers in the front. So anyway, back to me. As soon as I got inside I saw my dad watching TV in the front room but luckily he couldn't hear so well so I tiptoed past him but I didn't notice that my mum was in the kitchen and she heard me! She said "Hi sweetie" but I didn't know what to say until mum said "what's that box got in it and where did it come from?"
Then I don't know why but for some reason I just spat out "It's got nothing in it and I got it from a lady playing the fiddle on the way to the shop."
I think it must have been me speaking so fast or something else that made mum just stand there shocked.
Since she was shocked she didn't see me going up to my room or hear me saying "sorry mum got to go to my room, fill up this box, change my clothes and do my homework." As soon as I got to my room I got out all my jewellery and put it in the box without looking. I then got out my favourite mini shorts and a t-shirt then reached into my bag, pulled out my homework and started working.
Downstairs (yes I know down stairs I forgot to mention my house is a two storey and my room was on the second floor) Downstairs, when mum finally caught her breath she started walking up the stairs very slowly then faster and faster until finally she reached my room.
She came in and said "Honey, don't forget that Joy's party is tomorrow and you need to get out some jewellery to wear with your party outfit." So I said "Oh yes, I almost forgot." Then I said "what am I wearing anyway?" My mum said "your longest skirt (the pink one) your pink boots, your white top and a denim jacket." I said "Oh yeah, I love that outfit!"
When mum had gone I went to my jewellery box and there was nothing there. Then I remembered I had put my jewellery in the box that strange woman had given me. I went over to the box and looked inside but there was nothing there but some colorful things and a little noise but no jewels! I reached in to try and find the jewels but I couldn't reach because my arm kept going and going and going and the noise got louder and louder and louder until I could just make out some little screams.
I didn't know what to do, should I tell mum that I lost my jewellery and I can't wear it to the party?
I had decided to go and find the jewellery myself after all I was 11 years old and I wasn't a baby anymore. So I looked outside my door to see if anyone was coming, put the code on my door lock. (I have one of those that you have to put a code in but i'm not telling you mine) Then I put my head closer until I could see little people in the box so I decided to try and get my head through and I did!
Suddenly I could see clouds all around me and I started to fall. I went down and down and down until I fell on the ground. I woke up and saw millions of tiny people scattered everywhere except for five of them.
Well... there were actually four tiny people and one tiny dog.
They didn't seem to be scared and then one of them said "At last you have come!" I said "What do you mean?" Another of the tiny people said "You are what we have been praying for." "Our world is getting wrecked from lots of earthquakes, so we started praying every night for a giant to fall from the sky and it finally happened. Why don't you come to our house and we will explain everything." I said "Yes I will come."
They led me to a tiny house with a massive one next to it. I heard a lady say "Oh good you are home and who is that with you?" I then heard the person who asked me to come to the house say "It has finally happened!" Then the lady said "What has happened?"
Then another one said "What we have all been praying for, a giant to fall from the sky."
The lady spoke again and said "What is your name?"
I said "My name is Kate and I accidentally fell through a box that a woman gave me." |
